Bienve es buen profe, pero su clase no es nada facil. Así que dedícale tiempo y busca ayuda con los TA's o con videos. IMPORTANTE no dejes los proyectos para último minuto, no son nada faciles.

Bienve es el duro, Advanced no es fácil, aprende C++ con anticipación porque ahi no te van a enseñar el lenguaje, mas bien aplicarlo a mucha programación orientada a objetos. Bienve es bien bueno, 10/10. Dionel y Fabiola son los duros

El mejor profesor que he tenido en el RUM hasta ahora. Explica super bien, los labs son dificiles pero aprendes mucho, da mock exam , los examenes son dificiles pero si te fue bien en python aquí te va a ir mucho mejor. La mejor clase que he tenido hasta ahora. La unica queja son los proyectos que están bien hp pero aparte de eso easy A si se esfuerzan un poco

I took it back when it was in Java in 2019. For starters, I only knew Python from Algorithm, which, as many know, its quite lacking. You gonna suffer, you gonna cry, but you gonna make it. He's a good professor, and I'm glad he gives lots of work to practice. Programming requires lots of grinding, doesn't matter if its on Java, Haskell, C++, Julia, Rust, OCamL, or wahtever lang comes. So, my advice: Codingbats, Leetcode, your own trinckets, Tim Buchalka from Udemy if you want some more practice and have $15 to spare, Derek Banas on YT, freecodecademy.com. You have the resources lad, use em. Also, if you wanna get into Operating systems, get Linux. Try KDE Neon, DON'T TRY ANYTHING WITH GNOME. Trust me, getting used to the terminal actually helps. One last thing... for the love of God, don't use Eclipse, use IntelliJ, Vim, VSCode, Atom, anything but Eclipse. Bienve es buen buena gente, y tiene un equipo bastante solido de TAs. Este semestre, cambiaron de Java a C++. Ojo, la clase NO es como programar en C++. La clase es como aplicar conceptos de programacion y desarollarlos en C++. Asi que coganse un curso en C++ (que hay 2934924932 en youtube, edx, or coursera) para que no esten perdidos ese primer mes de clase. Otra cosa, los labs son 100 puntos y clavan a veces. Si tienes a Cesar Bolanos como TA, te jodistes. El tipo tiene la autoestima por el suelo del Mariana Trench y en vez de corregirme mis dudas, me confundio mas. Lo bueno es que todos los labs tienen bonos, so si sacas todos los bonos al final del curso puedes acumular hasta 75 puntos de bono. Lo malo es que solo se pueden aplicar en labs, no en examenes o proyectos. Aunque a veces cambian algunos labs, la mayoria no los cambian tanto so si conoces a alguien que cogio el curso pidanle a que les envian los labs del otro semestre y van a partirlos. Si no, hagan los pre labs (a veces vienen identicos) y van a salir bien. Y no se quiten si salgan mal, saque D en el primer lab y como quiera parti el curso con A. Lo otro, los PROYECTOS. Son BASTANTE dificiles pero nada imposible. Especialmente el primero. Es con openframeworks y toma tiempo familiarizarte con como se estructuran. Tambien te dan codigo ya hecho pero no lo puedes modificar, solo tienes que añadirle features, pero el codigo los TAs no lo comentan asi que tienes que descifrar que hay que hacer por tu cuenta o en horas de oficina. Lo bueno es dan un code review y a veces te enseñan como sesuponga que se vea el proyecto completado pero lo hacen bastante tarde. Tienes un mes para el proyecto y es con un compañero, PERO. Escoge un compañero que le meta duro a la clase o te jodistes. El primer proyecto mi compañero le importo un bicho y tuve que hacerlo casi todo yo. Saque 100 pero se hace super SUPER cuesta arriba hacer eso para el segundo proyecto que era el mas dificl (codear pac man). Para ese tuve un buen compañero y se hizo mas comodo. Las proyectos son largos cc so, EMPIENZEN DESDE EL PRIMER DIA para que le traigan dudas a las TAs. (Si ella todavia esta, saca cita con Maria Alejandra, a veces ella te regala el codigo :P) Btw, saquen horas de oficina con los TAs tempranos (atravez de moodle), como con 3 dias minimo de anticipacion. Se llenan en menos nada todos los TAs buenos. Lo ultimo es los quizzes, son faciles y basicamente un copy/paste de lo q Bienve dice en clase so vayan a todas las clases y tomen nota y es 9-10/10 asegurado. Lo podiamos coger dos veces y nos daba la nota mas alta. El final, los examenes son como los labs. No sorprenden y no son dificiles, rehagan los labs y van a salir bien. El primero tenia bono y nos daban ejercicioes adicionales para repasar. El examen 3 saque B (en realidad C porque los puntos de bono me subieron) y mis compañeros F porque eran 5 preguntas y los TAs pusieron sintaxis que nunca habiamos visto, so avizados, pero po lo general los examenes no clavaban mucho. Anyways dan puntos bonos por todo, so domina el lenguaje de C++, no dejen nada para ultimo, y metanle a las horas de oficinas de los TAs y esten up to date en la clase y van a clavar la clase con A. Una nota mala no les va a dañar el semestre. Pero eso si dan un cojon de trabajo so sean proactivos. Super pro estudiante este profe, sabe lo que hace. leer menos

En verdad si le dedicas tiempo, vas a aprender un montón. Los labs son tediosos pero ajá, es programación avanzada, que esperas? Lo que si tengo que decir es NO SE COPIEN!!!!! Sean sinceros aunque salgan mal, porque si te catchan :) volaste en cantos. Fuera de eso metan mano. Explica bien brutal y motiva a los estudiantes a participar. Lo que es los proyectos quitan mucho tiempo, pero si te organizas bien sales a flote. NO DEJEN ESTA CLASE PARA ULTIMA HORA PORQUE VAN A MORIR. Y piensen fuera de la caja, eso les va a ayudar un montón. Éxito!

La clase es difícil, pero sus explicaciones son las mejores. Se nota que le apasiona el campo y se encarga de trasmitir esa pasión a sus estudiantes. El mejor!

En ICOM4015 es un buenisimo profesor, la clase se te va a ser facil y con estudiar dos veces en la semana te va ir super bien. Fui menos de 7 veces a la clase y saque A. Estudia los videos que él da y después trata de escribir el código por ti mismo, al lograr hacer los código por tu cuenta sin ayuda significa que ya te aprendistes ese material y ya estas ready. Bienve es uno de los mejores profesores que tienen los de ICOM/INSO/CIIC en mi opinion. Cogi Advanced Programming (CIIC4010/ICOM4015) este semestre y la parti con A de tanto que aprendi con el y sus grupo de asistentes despues de haber pasado CIIC3011 con C. Eso si...LA CLASE NO ES MIQUEO PARA NADAAAAAA. Tienes que PRACTICAR y saber codear con eficiencia y saber o que estas haciendo. Botellas aqui no existen. Estudiar la noche antes es F automatica en el examen o lab. La clase tiene labs semanales, 3 proyectos y 3 examenes. Los examenes no son tan fuertes pero requieren PRACTICA constante con una semana de anticiapacion como MINIMO. Los proyectos as soon as you are given the specs PONTE A HACERLO. Te dan un mes y un partner para hacerlo pero son very time consuming. Pero trust me, valen la pena porque aprendes un monton y son fun para hacer ya que son juegos comotal (Los mios fueron Frogger, un copy de Final Fantasy y Mario Maker). Bienvenido Velez es un excelente profesor. Tome la clase de Programación Avanzada y al comienzo pensé que no la iba a pasar pero al final pase la clase con A y aprendí un montón. Bienve es muy bueno y brega. No tengan miedo de hablar con él. Pero claro está, hay que darle duro a la clase. ¡PRACTICAR MUCHO! No se asusten que se puede.

Excelente profesor que da el todo por sus estudiantes. Da repasos, exámenes de práctica, y siempre está en sus horas de oficina. Además de esto, tiene un gran equipo de TAs que están más que dispuestos a hacer todo lo posible por ayudarte con la clase. Dicho esto, la clase NO es de Java. Es de conceptos de programación orientada a objetos, enseñados con Java. NADIE te va a enseñar Java. Si te fue mal con INGE3016 o CIIC3011, probablemente también te ira mal con esta clase. Los conceptos discutidos en esas clases son críticos para salir bien en esta clase. Claro, siempre está YouTube si no entiendes algún concepto, pero vas a tener que dar el 1000%. Esta clase no es un miqueo, pero ciertamente el profesor y su equipo de TAs hacen todo lo posible por hacerla lo más digerible posible. Además de esto, dan oportunidad de subir la nota con los bonos. Tiene el don de la enseñanza. No creo que encuentres otro profesor tan preparado en su àrea y tan capaz de transmitir el conocimiento de temas relativamente complejos. Su personalidad no es la mejor pero si la coge contigo es porque te la buscaste. Siempre trata de estar pendiente de sus estudiantes. Cógela con él si de verdad te interesa aprender. Sus exámenes son sumamente justos y todo lo que viene es discutido en clase. Si te encuentras algo raro en el examen fue porque no cubriste todo el material de lo que enseñó en clase.

Muy buen profesor. Siempre esta dispuesto a aclarar tus dudas y a resolver cualquier problema que tengas con la clase. Ahora que conste que la clase no es nada de facil. Se requiere muchisima práctica y dedicación. Si es posible intenta aprender Java antes de tomar el curso, ya que se te puede hacer mucha la carga. Da los proyectos uno tras el otro, asi que intenta completarlos lo antes posible. En fin, se aprende mucho, pero se necesita mucha práctica. Lo unico que cambiaría de la clase es que sea mas interactiva, porque muchas veces los examenes son de lo que se da en los labs, y la clase se desvía de eso.

Advanced Programming (Java). Voy a ser los más in depth posible. First of all, te recomiendo que te familiarices con Java antes de empezar el curso, porque obviamente él no te va a enseñar paso a paso que si el sintaxis y la pendejá. El curso le dicen Java pero no es para aprender Java, es para aplicar conceptos de Object Oriented Programming, así que ven preparado. La clase es básicamente Bienve proyectando su pantalla y programando con nosotros, aplicando conceptos de la clase en proyectitos divertidos. La clase no es para dar teoría ni para mostrar los powerpoints, eso lo tienes que hacer tú fuera de la clase, porque él te va a enseñar lo más importante que es APLICAR. Altamente recomendado que leas el libro, va bien a fondo y con detalles. Siempre que me sentía perdido en la clase, leía el libro y problema resuelto. Los labs son súper cómodos si estás al día con el material, y si no los terminas en el lab te permiten terminarlo luego. Los TA's son generalmente súper nice y dispuestos a ayudar (el más jodón es Paul Bartus pero anyway son solo TA's, no van a dictar tu semestre). Y en cuanto a Bienve él es tremendo profesor, explica cabrón, es bien simpático y pro-estudiante, siempre con un carisma envidiable para programar y enseñarnos. BUT, la clase no es perfecta obviamente, entiendo que actualmente hay 2 problemas con el curso. Primero, el menos malo, los exámenes. No es que los exámenes son imposibles, en realidad son cómodos si vas preparado (practica con Hackerrank, la estructura es parecida!), pero la manera en que está diseñado el examen, es bien HIT or MISS para muchos estudiantes. Si por alguna razón tu código no pasó ninguna prueba del problema, estás jodío porque es un 0, y generalmente son de 4 a 5 problemas, so con un mistake ya puedes caer a C. Pero por lo menos Bienve este semestre bregó demasiado bien y tiró curva en algunos, so there's that. El segundo problema y el peor, son los proyectos. IMO, el difficulty spike que tienen los proyectos es muy alto, y al principio te sientes overwhelmed con la complejidad que tienen. El issue es que Bienve te da ya un código base y tu tienes que añadir lo que el pida pero todo sin modificar nada de lo original. O sea, tienes que aplicar conceptos como herencia y polimorfismo, que en realidad es un problema para el primer proyecto como tal, porque en ese punto de la clase aún no se ha llegado a esos temas. Tan pronto Bienve abra el proyecto, tú corre y empiézalo, porque te aseguro que vas a estar struggling bien cabrón si lo dejas pa la última semana. Generalmente tienes 2 semanas para hacerlo y pienso que eso no es suficiente para proyectos de esa magnitud, y claramente quedó demostrado porque tuvo que extender el deadline de todos los proyectos. Otro problema es que son en parejas. Bueno, en realidad no tiene que ser necesariamente un problema, pero eso depende de quién conseguiste de partner, eso es super crucial y puede ser la diferencia entre una A y una F, porque para estos proyectos definitivamente two heads are better than one. También está el issue de Github. Los proyectos son todos usando Github, si pueden familiarizarse con él háganlo temprano, porque de verdad que es bastante confuso y entiendo que Bienve debería darle mayor enfoque en la clase y en el lab desde el principio. All that said, yo disfruté mucho la clase y aprendí cc. Bienve es tremendo profesor y estoy haciendo rituales para que algún día lo pongan a dar Data Structures y saquen a Pedro Rivera pal carajo. En fin, lee el libro, practica en Hackerrank, usa YT, lleva tus dudas a Bienve o a los TA's, haz todo con tiempo, y te aseguro que te irá bien. leer menos

Honestamente, Como persona es super, lo mejor. Como profesor es un ASCO. En Programación Avanzada fue horrible desde el principio. El primer dia yo fui contento y salí molesto. Esto fue porque el curso es con lenguaje Java y el viene y dice YO AQUI NO VINE A ENSEÑAR JAVA EN INTERNET HAY PAGINAS QUE ENSEÑAN Y APPS, se le paga para que nos enseñe y mira con lo que sale. O sea si no sabes Java desde un principio te jodistes. Luego me entero que más de la mitad del salon estan repitiendo la clase. El da la clase proyectando su pantalla y el programando cosas que no explica casi. Va super rapido y el jura que ya tu te sabes todo eso. Casi nunca falta. Y los proyectos de programación son juegos que él da y tienes que estudiar su código y modificarlos. Te los da sin cubrir el material necesario que se necesita para entender el proyecto. Ya te puedes imaginar el ocho que se hacen los estudiantes. Tiene como 5 asistentes y no se para que los tiene porque los labs son lean lo que dice en ecour… leer más

PORFAVOR antes de matricularte a esta clase asegura que sepas lo basico de Java sino no te ira bien. Es un dios en java y se le nota que sabe cc de todo lo que hace, PERO asume que todos saben java y el da la clase para aplicar java y no ensenarte asi que no esperes que el va a ir paso a paso a explicarte el syntax porque no es asi. Los proyectos son super mega cool pero super mega dificil asi que no lo dejes para lo ultimo. No te puedo decir nada mas porque o la coges con el o la coges con el; mi recomendacion es saber lo basico de Java. NO COJAN EL LAB CON PAUL BARTUS SI TE QUIERES

El es un buen profesor, se nota que sabe lo que hace y que trata de que sus estudiantes aprendan. Ahora, su clase no es facil, especialmente si no sabes mucho de programacion. Si puedes trata de aprender un poco de Java antes de entrar. Los proyectos no son faciles, son largos y toman tiempo. Todos nuestros proyectos tuvo que extenderlos porque no nos daba tiempo a terminarlos.

El dios de Java. Si quieres aprender y divertirte a la ves, Bienve es tu mejor opción. Su clase es súper dinámica y sus proyectos dan gusto hacer. Siempre se tira chistes y hace que te guste la programación, y a la vez te enseña todo lo que necesitas para cursos próximos. Si no entendiste alguna clase o no pudiste asistir (siempre trata de ir, pasa lista sin falta), graba todas sus clases y las sube a youtube. Lo puedes encontrar siempre en su oficina y te ayuda, pero tienes que estudiar antes de preguntarle pues no le gusta tener estudiantes que no se han dignado en abrir el libro. Aún deseo que lo muevan a dar data pero por lo pronto parece imposible.

El es excelente profesor. He tomado 2 clases con el y continuaria tomando otros cursos con el. Es super paciente y te explica cuantas veces tenga que hacerlo contar de que entiendas. Super pro estudiante. Las clases son dificiles, pero no es su culpa. El hace lo mejor que puede con los recuros que tienes. El es el mejor profesor para tomar Programacion Avanzada.

ICOM4015 (Advanced Programming) El profesor es un Brain y se nota que sabe lo que hace. Es excelente profesor y le interesa genuinamente que los estudiantes aprendan y que salgan de alli sabiendo lo que hacen. Es super amable y siempre esta dispuesto a ayudar. La clase se trata de explicar los conceptos basicos de Object Oriented programming y se usa Java como lenguaje para explicarlo, por eso le dicen "Java" a la clase pero en realidad ese no es el proposito de la clase. Aprender a programar es un proceso largo y extenso que, a diferencia de otras clases, tienes que aprenderlo tu por tu cuenta. Veo mucha gente quejandose que lo que da en clase no es suficiente para hacer las cosas asignadas pero eso es así con la programacion y eso no es culpa del Profesor, el trata de hacer lo mejor con el tiempo que dura la clase. TIENES que practicar por tu cuenta y aprender por tu cuenta viendo videos y leyendo el libro. La clase es interactiva, se programa allí mismo y te puedes llevar tu laptop para seguirlo paso a paso. El le interesa que los estudiantes pregunten porque asi es que se aprende (NO TENGAN MIEDO A PREGUNTAR). EL laboratorio es relativamente facil pero hay algunos que no da el tiempo del lab para completarlos asi que te recomiendo que los leas antes de llegar alli para que asi entiendas y te de el tiempo. Los examenes son de dificultad media y como no son a papel como lo hacen otros profesores, los examenes son en a la hora del lab y te ponen a resolver problemas programando allí mismo. Cual es el downside de esto? Literalmente o lo tienes bien o lo tienes mal. SI lo tienes mal, te dan 0 obviamente porque si el programa no corre, pues el ni le hace caso, ahora si lo haces bien ahí tienes la posibilidad de obtener puntos ya sea puntuacion completa o parcial. Esta es la unica manera de evaluar este tipo de examenes ya que es así.. o lo tienes bien o lo tienes mal y no hace sentido que te den puntos por tenerlo mal. Lo realmente challenging (y en mi opinion, lo mejor) de esta clase son los proyectos.. son en parejas y puede ser que el te asigne la pareja o tu puedas escogerla (esto es lo unico que critico, siempre deberia ser que tu puedas escogerla pero bueno.. el tendra sus razones). Los proyectos son relativamente dificiles (depende de cuanto hayas estudiado) pero no hay duda de que no los vas a poder hacer con lo que te han dado en clase y aqui viene lo bello de esto.... ASI ES QUE TU APRENDES deverdad. Haciendo estos proyectos y buscando como lograr lo que te piden es que tu vas a aprender como bregan las cosas deverdad. De esta manera tambien te preparas para los examenes. Ahh y antes de que se me olvide.. otra cosa que critico del profesor es que se tarda DEMASIADO corrigiendo las cosas. En mi caso solo vi la nota del primer examen durante el semestre... y TODO lo demas lo corrigio despues de que se acabaron las clases. Aparte de eso...el profesor es excelente, la clase es super divertida y se la recomiendo a cualquiera. leer menos

En Java aprendi mucho mas con apps y en internet que en la clase. Los examenes son dificiles de terminar por el tiempo. Ve abla oficina y habla con el para que te ayude. A mi no me inspira confianza. Y solo dio nota de el primer examen antes de la ultima semana. Losnproyectos son interesantes pero hace falta mas que lo que da en la clase para hacerlos.

Como persona es excelente, es Bueno hablar con el. muy amable y siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Como profesor pues explica muy bien, se entiende todo con el y lo que no entiendes te lo explica de maneras diferentes las veces que necesites. La clase (Fundamentos de Computacion) es muy dificil, demasiado material para un semestre o 3 creditos y corrigiendo es demasiado estricto, si no entiende lo que querias hacer te lo pone malo. Hay que estudiar mucho, hacer todos los ejercicios del libro (no exagero, todos!) y aun asi probablemente haya uno totalmente diferente en el examen. pero recomiendo la clase con el!

Es súper estricto con sus puntuaciones. Procura haber estudiado antes de ir a su oficina o te hace pasar el pasme de tu vida, especialmente si hay mucha gente. Si puedes ver más lejos de lo que es, es buena gente y siempre encuentra lugar donde dar bonos. Estudia mucho y haz mas de lo que pida, ya que siempre encuentra manera de meter 2 o 3 conceptos que, aunque hayas estudiado todo, no los sepas o no te acuerdes bien.

La clase es super interesante y cubre todos los temas pero definitivamente no hay tiempo para cubrirlo todo en la clase. Tienes que leer mucho y hacer los ejercicios. da asignaciones todas las semanas y debes de hacerlas. Los examenes son sumamente dificiles aunque hayas hecho toda la asignacion. El problema mas grande aqui es los examenes!!!!!!!
